During the premiere of "The Fall Guy" in Los Angeles on Tuesday night, star Ryan Gosling expressed the need for the Oscars to acknowledge stunt work.

“This film is a heartfelt tribute to the stunt community, who are truly the unsung heroes of the industry,” Gosling shared with attendees on the red carpet, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. “They put everything on the line. Our hope is that this movie will spark a movement to recognize their incredible contributions with an Oscar.”
While the Screen Actors Guild Awards have been honoring stunt ensembles with its Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture category since 2007, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has yet to embrace the idea of an award specifically for stunt performers.

The Academy has historically been cautious about expanding its prestigious awards lineup. It was only in recent times that the organization decided to introduce a new category for Best Casting, slated to premiere in 2026.
As reported by THR, "The Fall Guy" premiere was orchestrated as a grand spectacle of stunts, featuring performers—some donning attire reminiscent of Gosling—engaging in fights and showcasing motorcycle prowess on the red carpet. Notably, one stuntman, highlighted by THR, bravely leaped from a balcony to join the ensemble.
